Contact Light Improvisation

Interactive art vjing for moving bodies in three parts by Peggy Sylopp
For DANCE ON SCREENS Peggy Sylopp adapts interactive video installations, originally concepted and
realized for various places and conditions, to try out together with the dancers a kind of virtual contact
improvisation.

Part one
Graphical objects, poetic underwater ambience, vividly coloured environments of lights and shapes
react on body motions,

Part two
the image of the dancer gets percievable through movement – vanishes in stillness

Part three
Slight movements multiplied into the light game of a virtual kaleidoscope: dancing bodies captured in
the beauty of the maths phenomen of fractals.

Peggy Sylopp
Media artist and curator Peggy Sylopp dedicated herself after a photo-technical qualification to various
kinds of performing arts (music, theatre, pantomime, dance) and worked then on photography,
experimental film and video predominantly in environments for stage. In the last years she focalizes
her work on live acts and installations with real time generated (3d) graphics, live video input, sound
controlled computer graphics and motion tracking.

Giovanni Longo
Sound artist and curator Giovanni Longo workin the field of Composition, sound design, electronic
music and programming. The emphasis is on audio art, performances, multichannel environments,
sound installations with integration of visual arts and sculpture elements like found objects and
modified electronic components.
The slowly evolving sounds of his performances with real time generated sounds, with Techno and
Industrial elements, create steadily mutating landscapes, convey associations and give an immersive
experience to the listeners.
