VISUAL CONTACT MOVES
- from 8pm Bar open
- from 8pm open session contact-improvisation
- from 9pm VISUAL CONTACT MOVES
Visual contact moves
Alexander Peschka (a.k.a Vijay Sikanda) & Peggy
Sylopp will join for the first time to combine their way of work and
to improvise together visually. Coming from different backgrounds (event
& projection art versus art installation & performance) they
will try to make a fusion between their aproaches. In this Session the
dancers will have the opportunity to play with their siluettes and projections
on their bodies and experiment with feedback and different digital effects.
You can see a collaboration with dancers and musicians created for online
viewing on his website in the menue at selecting av-improv. Graphical
objects, poetic underwater ambience, vividly coloured environments of
lights and shapes react on body motions Slight movements multiplied
into the light game of a virtual kaleidoscope: dancing bodies captured
in the beauty of the maths phenomen of fractals
Alexander Peschka
After studys in audiovisual design he worked as
Multimedia- and ProjectionArtist. He is also passinate in contact improvisation.
His intention is to create synergies between the sound, the visual surrounding
and the movement of the people.
He uses different projection-equipment ( video & slide projectorts)
and live compositing software to create lightning rooms,
moving in tune with sounds.Much of the Visual material is designed to
give also an interactive expierence in the world wide web, programmed
in adobe flash.

Slight movements multiplied into the light game of a virtual kaleidoscope:
dancing bodies captured in the beauty of the maths phenomen of fractalsAt
the last session, the Contact light Improvisation I, dancers and video
performer created spontaneously harmonic and aesthetic images in an
intuitive interplay, without having met ever before. On impulse of this
succeeding team play und the interest of the dancers the idea came up
to realise interactive video environments as a permanent installation
for "Dance on Screens". This Contact Light Improvisation II
will be the preparation for this project, which is planned as a work
in progress.

Contact Light Improvisation
Interactive art vjing for moving bodies in three parts by Peggy Sylopp
For DANCE ON SCREENS Peggy Sylopp adapts interactive video installations,
originally concepted and
realized for various places and conditions, to try out together with
the dancers a kind of virtual contact
improvisation.
Part one
Graphical objects, poetic underwater ambience, vividly coloured environments
of lights and shapes
react on body motions,
Part two
the image of the dancer gets percievable through movement – vanishes
in stillness

- from 9pm live video & music
VIDEOART:
YOANN TRELLU
Working as a photographer for a long time, Yoann
Trellu shifted to video art to extend the possibilities given by still
images. His work follows two main axes:
- Deformation of reality
- Geometrical composition within a frame
Yoann Trellu about his work: "I like the idea of a graphical narration
and I think it's possible to communicate feelings and emotions via abstract
movements. I like to work on "moments" and pictures. Then
I process them on the computer to give them a very digital texture.
I don't have a theme or a subject. I like architecture and city view
but also landscape, particular details of a scene... Any part of reality
can become the subject of a video.I work on composition and moments.
I've been working with musicians since I started video and I'm very
interested in the relationship between medias. Since two years I work
with choreographers and dancers, which is interesting for me because
it brings three other "layers" into my work: space, human
body and lights."

Georg Hekt lives and works as musician and DJ in Berlin and worked with
many different artists from different fields and countries. He produces,
composes, plays and edits electronic music. 2003 he founded together

10TH SESSION - DANCE ON SCREENS
EVERYBODY DANCE
- from 8pm Bar open
- from 8pm open session contact-improvisation
- from 9pm Everybody Dance
EVERYBODY DANCE experiments with the mix and superimposition of dance
images from various origins with the live images of the contact dancers.
By this overlaying of concepts it compares the real world with the artistic
view and makes an emphasis on the distance between the art world and
the every day life. With humor and irony we'll try to laugh
about being artists and art in general.

DECEMBER 3rd-6th & 8th 2007
Kinematic Painting
The disintegration of the relation between viewer, body, time and space.
Dance- and Video workshop
3rd. - 6th. and 8th. December 2007
always from 1.00 pm
Presentation ::: Shortfilms ::: Interactive
video installations ::: Party
8th December 2007
from 9.00 pm
Dance is always connected to the concrete space. Like
all other movent in space its depending on physical rules and necesseties.
Only the combination of dance with digital media allows it to transform
this relation up to the point of its desintegration.
The Workshop Kinematic Painting treats the relation of body and space
and tries to transform and overcome traditional connections visually.
By means of dynamic camera work, image editing and of interactive isolation
of single image layers the bodies shall be released of the coherence
of space and time. Like this out of gesture and dance a moving painting
with color and light is being generated.
Experimental workshop and presentation:
The workshop Kinematic Painting is taking place on 3rd until 8th of
December 2007 as a cooperation between the Hochschule für Kunst
und Gestaltung in Halle and the 103Studio. Students and dancers will
explore together with camera and body the studio and the city and will
deal creatively with the different forms of movement. Based on these
body space improvisations "kinematic paintings" will be made
in form of short films and interactive video installations. Theses will
be transformed again by the videoartist Kosei Takasaki (www.kokomono.com)
to a audiovisual installation.
The participation at the workshop is gratis.
Questions and registration to Prof. Axel Buether / Burg Giebichenstein
(buether@farbe-licht-raum.eu).
The results of the workshop will be presented in form of short films,
interactive video installations on December 8th from 9pm

Boutique de Danse
2nd Edition
A Project by Ambra Pittoni.
Dance as a performative art exists for the audience only in the moment
of representation. Unlike in literature, film or music there is no material
product posed as medium for dance. What is then the economic value of
a dance piece? Can a moment have a price ? And how do the performers connect
their work to money, payment and the market ?
Boutique de danse is an ironic reflection about the relation
between the economic mechanism and the ephemeral character belonging to
the art of dance.
The italian choreographer and dancer Ambra Pittoni will sell dance miniatures
in her Boutique de danse. The offer consists of timed contemporary
dance, fresh made and exclusively presented for the customer.
TheBoutique de danse will open November 29th
from 9 pm to 12pm at the 103Studio. The entry is free.

Hedonistic
flow
flow ¦ description of a state of concentrated, yet relaxed activity
flow ¦ doing things because you want to do them
flow ¦ time flies, don’t want to stop
a dance flow installation in 103Studio. dancers bodies create an ambient
environment of flowing activity. movement upscaled through computer
generated images. live body vj experience.
Frieder Weiss calls himself ‘Engineer in the arts’. Together
with Australian dancer Emily Fernandez they created a series of performances
called ‘perceivable bodies’. They use a computerized video
setup and especially written software to allow the bodies to control
unique interactive imagery. Dance and projection are closely merged
into a visually rich augmented performance.
For this 103studio club implementation they are supported by numerous
artists including DS-X.org, DJ Babis Cloud, Video artist Sven Beyer.

"In
Alice's World"
An integration of real-time technology with dance performance, In Alice's
World demonstrates how technology enables story telling, augments human
movement, reshapes the choreographic process, and enhances the expressive
qualities of a dance performance.
In Alice's World incorporates Laban Movement Notation inspired real
time motion analysis through computer vision technology and OpenGL based
real-time graphics which are dynamically generated according to dancer's
motion properties at the time. As much as the technology behaves in
relation to the dancer, it also plays the role of a partner with whom
the dancer interacts through articulating improvisational movement.
The creative impulse of this piece stems from my experience as a dancer
and how I perceive the act of dancing as a way to interact with space,
or as Rudolph Von Laban coined it as the "kinesphere." Dancers
are architects who appropriate gestures to form space whether it's bending
their backs to create an arch, or slicing in air with their arms to
carve a path in space. And how they perform the movement gives forms
a texture, color, dynamism. In Alice's World attempts to translate these
imaginary shapes into the visual domain and transform them as playful
experiences for the dancer and the audience.

JUNE
12TH & 13TH, 21:00
WORKSHOP by MARK CONIGLIO
Dancers and VJs can apply contacting: info@103studio.de
Strange Loops
Media Artist Mark Coniglio will lead a two day workshop-experience
for contact improvisers and video artists called "Strange Loops".
The purpose of the workshop will be to explore a series of
provocations concerning the interaction between movement and
projected video images, using the notion of loops as a thematic
link between the two.
The task of the video artist will be to use live, mediated video
projections to expose the performer, to burrow under his or her
skin and expose the physical, neuro-kinetic or psychological forces
driving the movement. In response, the performers will use this
visual revelation to define their next action and/or interaction
with performers around them, thus subtlety or radically changing
the video dissection of their inner being as presented on screen.
In this way, as the image influences body, and body influences
image, a chaotic interactive dialogue will result; a "Strange Loop"
based on interpretation, re-interpretation, and unexpected meaning.
The workshops will take place at 103 Studios [Falkensteinstr.
47 -
Berlin Kreuzberg] on June 12 and 13 starting at 21:00. Beamers and
space will be provided by 103 Studios; other equipment (e.g.,
laptops, software) is the responsibility of the artist. Those who
have taken part in the workshop will informally present the
findings of their research at 103 Studios as part the monthly
"Dance on Screens" event on June 14th.
About Mark Coniglio
Media Artist and composer Mark Coniglio is recognized as one of the
pioneers of interactive performance. He is known for both his
performative creations as Artistic Co-Director of Troika Ranch
(www.troikaranch.org)
and as the creator of the real-time
media manipulation software Isadora (www.troikatronix.com).
